Bruised Chiefs go for Sheasham hunt

BRUISED Bulawayo Chiefs FC head to Gweru for their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie against tricky new boys Sheasham FC in a match to be played at Bata Stadium this afternoon.

Chiefs are smarting from a 2-0 home defeat they were handed by resurgent Premier Soccer League returnees Hwange in a mid-week fixture at Luveve Stadium on Thursday.

On the other hand, in their previous fixture, Sheasham, who are fondly known as Construction Boys, gave Bulawayo football giants Highlanders a scare in a match that ended one all.

“It’s another tricky game for us. It’s unfortunate that our winning streak came to a halt but we will continue to fight. Sheasham are a good team but we will take the game to them,” said Bulawayo Chiefs head coach Johanisi Nhumwa.

He leads an ambitious side that has been battling a series of financial problems.

However, their campaign looks promising.

They are on ninth on the log with 30 points, three ahead of the Lizwe Sweswe mentored side.

“We gained a valued point against Highlanders. It’s still a relegation fight for us. We are hoping to get it right. Everyone is raring to go,” said Sweswe.

Meanwhile, buoyant Hwange will today entertain struggling CAPS United at Colliery Stadium while former league champions Dynamos fight it out against Herentals at the giant National Sports Stadium in Harare.

Yadah Stars will seek to utilise home advantage when they take on Triangle United.
Greenfuel will fight it out against army side Cranborne Bullets.
