THE Bulawayo Social Soccer League (BSSL) says the 2026 season has progressed smoothly, with the successful running of its league programme providing the perfect build-up to the Founders Cup semi-finals.
League spokesperson Blessing Adolph Jonga said the BSSL was satisfied with how the season had unfolded, with teams consistently honouring fixtures and the competition remaining highly competitive.
“We are happy with how the league programme has been sailing smoothly throughout the season. Teams have been committed to fulfilling their fixtures and that has allowed us to focus on delivering a successful Founders Cup. We are expecting exciting semi-finals and we invite football lovers to come and support the teams,” said Jonga.
The Founders Cup semi-finals will be played in Nketa on July 12, with Mthala facing Iminyela Timers in the opening match before 70 Combination take on Date Stars in the second semi-final.
The competition, named in honour of the league’s founding figures, including pioneering administrator Chris
Mhlanga, has grown into the flagship tournament of the BSSL, attracting more than 30 social football teams from Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs.
Meanwhile, attention this weekend shifts to Match Day 19 of the league programme, with a full round of fixtures across the three groups.
