THE Bulawayo Social Soccer League (BSSL) organising committee has appealed to teams affiliated to the league to assist in addressing equipment shortages that are affecting the smooth hosting of tournaments.
In a statement issued to team representatives, the committee said concerns had been raised during recent discussions over the unavailability of essential assets, particularly chairs, during league events.
The organising committee praised the commitment shown by team leaders in openly engaging on the matter, describing it as a sign of the collective spirit driving the growth of the league.
“Your willingness to raise the issue and engage openly reflects the true spirit of BSSL, a league built by us, for us, with the commitment to seeing this league grow stronger each season,” read part of the statement.
According to the committee, the league initially had 25 chairs available for use during events, but only 15 remain in usable condition, creating challenges for teams tasked with hosting tournaments.
The shortage has reportedly placed pressure on some teams, with a few clubs carrying the burden of sourcing equipment whenever events are held.
To address the situation, the committee has requested that each team contribute at least one durable plastic chair during the upcoming half-season meeting scheduled for 4 July.
The venue and time are yet to be confirmed.
The organising committee believes the initiative will help ensure every team can host matches and tournaments without facing additional financial strain while also promoting shared responsibility across the league.
“This small contribution will ensure every team has the capacity to host without financial strain, distribute the responsibility fairly across the league and strengthen our unity as one BSSL family working towards a common goal,” the committee said.
The committee added that the move would ease pressure on organisers and improve the league’s ability to host tournaments across different venues.
Teams were also encouraged to engage the organising committee should they wish to explore alternative ways of contributing towards league development.
The BSSL has continued to position itself as a community-driven sporting initiative, with organisers emphasising collective responsibility and unity as key pillars for the league’s continued growth.
