adminCAPE Town – Orlando Pirates veteran captain Lucky Lekgwathi has urged his team-mates to put their weekend Caf Champions League triumph over Al Ahly of Egypt behind them and focus on their Absa Premiership opener against AmaZulu tonight. The Buccaneers demolished the defending Caf Champions League champions 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in a game played behind closed doors due to the political instabilities in Egypt, leaving them at the summit of Group A log standings on goal difference.
Lekgwathi, 37, believes that the win over Al Ahly was “tremendous”, but insisted that the Soweto giants need to switch their attention to their first 2013/14 PSL instalment.
“AmaZulu is a different team – they will come at us convinced that they can get a result from us but we will have to be well prepared for them.
“They have players that were previously with us and as they return to Orlando, they will be motivated to help their new team beat us. The win in Egypt is now water under the bridge.
“We have another serious match which must be approached with respect and seriousness,” Lekgwathi told the Orlando Pirates website.
The Buccaneers will be looking to secure the maximum three points when they take on Usuthu at the FNB stadium. – SuperSport
