Budding poet pens anthology

Leonard Ncube in Victoria Falls

A budding Victoria Falls poet has penned an anthology where he seeks to be the voice of the voiceless.
a“I call myself Skaps the advocate because I view myself as a voice that needs to be heard.

There are some life things that people don’t really want to talk about and these are some of the issues I put down on paper to communicate with the society,” said Sikapila. The book was published at Xesha Khumalo’s God Gives Hope Publications in Bulawayo.

“I am focusing on how social life has been corrupted. I have a good review from people who have read the collection while poems like Men and Cry of barren women are people’s favourites,” highlighted Sikapila.

He said he targets all age groups educating them about dangers of contemporary life.

He started writing the collection of poems in 2015 and finished early this year. He said he is inspired by renowned poet Obert Dube, also from Victoria Falls.

He is now working on another Ndebele anthology with Bulawayo-based writer Vimbai Mujakachi and Dube.

Voice in the Dome is Sikapila’s second publication after Izinkondlo Zenhlobonhlobo published by Zimbabwe Publishers. The Hwange-born poet is also working on translating Voice in the Dome into local Nambya and Tonga languages. “My dream is to provide material in the form of set books.

I have set goals to be a celebrated writer in the next five years,” he added.

Some of his poems are recorded in audio and being played on the local Breeze FM and Khulumani FM radio stations.
