Budget Health Medical Aid Society wins award

BUDGET Health Medical Aid Society has urged people to prioritise their health regardless of their income.

The firm’s sales manager, Mr Ngoni Mupedziswa, made the call after winning an award at a ceremony held by the Association of Healthcare Funders of Zimbabwe (AFHoZ) in Victoria Falls recently.

“While a lot of people may associate the term ‘budget’ with low-value items, to us we are simply communicating that every one should put their health on their budget regardless of their income.

“We have packages to suit any budget and our health is our investment so let’s all budget.

“We attended the AFHoZ annual stakeholders meeting which was held in Victoria Falls and we were awarded the Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility award in the medical aid societies category,” he said.

Mr Mupedziswa said the award was a huge endorsement of the good work they are doing.

“We are overjoyed whenever there’s an opportunity for us to partner with communities and give back. This award just came as a reminder for us to continue to leave no community behind in providing health and also in our support of giving back to the same communities.

“Our service provider network covers all corners of the country so once you sign up, you can start enjoying services from wherever you are in Zimbabwe. The major challenge has been the uptake and understanding of the importance of medical aid.

“Isn’t it interesting that the majority of us prepare for death by putting ourselves on the funeral cover but we neglect to try and keep ourselves alive for as long as possible by accessing reliable health services through medical aids.

“It seems only those who have experienced a health catastrophe are the ones who understand the importance of investing in medical aid.”

He added:  “Our aim is to cultivate a knowledge culture where everyone from all walks of life appreciates the necessity for being covered by medical aid.

“Our major role is to educate the nation and impart appreciation for medical cover and that role certainly does not come easy. It’s not like selling cake and candy out there.”
