ZIFA Eastern Region Division One log leaders Buffaloes Juniors will be aiming to maintain pole position when they travel to Chipinge to fulfil their fifth fixture against Gaza Gunners FC.The army side who are enjoying a superior goal difference over Eastern Stars FC who are also at nine points will face Gaza Gunners FC who are recovering from a 2-1 away defeat to ZRP Masvingo FC.
Eastern Stars who hammered Mutare Poly FC 3-1 at home last weekend will be away in Mutare to date Tennax FC who lost 2-1 to log leaders.
Buffaloes Juniors are a feeder team for the Luke Masomere coached Premier League outfit Buffaloes.
They started the season with a loss to Three Leaves. The following week they hosted Renco Mine and defeated the gold miners by just a goal winning their third against rivals Mutare Poly 2-0.
Buffaloes Juniors head coach Shadreck Musave said his charges are eyeing maximum points at the weekend when they travel to Gaza Gunners FC.
Gaza are 12th with just one win.
“As we travel to play Gaza our main aim is to collect three vital away points to maintain our position as log leaders,” said Musave.
Musave said they are guarding against complacency despite winning three consecutive matches. “It’s too early to talk about promotion into the league at this stage. We are talking about only four matches of which we still have a long way to go.
“My team is not yet playing football which I expect, so far they have attained about 60 percent of my expectations and I believe they will continue to improve,” he said.
Buffaloes Juniors are now home to former Premier League side Buffaloes’ players who include defender Dananai Chinovava, striker Joakim Kastiju and Simbarashe Nyauzima.
