Bulawayo amateur boxing association run bouts begin

EIGHT boxing clubs will this afternoon converge at Mathonisa Bar in Mpopoma suburb for the monthly Bulawayo Amateur Boxing Association run bouts which are meant to keep the pugilists in shape.

The bouts will also see the return of boxers from the Bulawayo West stable that have not been active for the past five years according to the Bulawayo Amateur Boxing Association secretary Ezwel Ndlovu.

“Saturday’s bouts are part of our ongoing drive to keep these boys fit and eight clubs will be represented.

We urge all boxing fans to come and watch the boxers in action,” said Ndlovu.

Lobengula, Tshaka, Nketa, Sikhulile, Nkulumane, Percy, HQ 1 Brigade and Bulawayo West will all be represented.

Lobengula will be represented by Bantamweight pugilist Wiseman Tshuma, flyweight Divine Jiyane, welterweight Cecil Toto and lightweight Lancelot Moyo.

Martin Dlodlo will stand in for Percy while Nkulumane will be represented by Everson Musawambidzi.

“We are happy that the army guys have also seconded their boxers. They will be represented by Godknows Sithole, Artwel Rungwandi and Marko Sibanda,” said Ndlovu.

Focus will certainly be on Tshaka pugilist Lwazi Mpofu who is under the stable of Striker Ndlovu who has trained many successful boxers.

Returnees Bulawayo West will be represented by Tyson Msebele, Fredrick Mabhena and Siyabonga Bhebhe.
