THE 2025 Bulawayo Metropolitan Rugby Football Board (BMRFB) Archer Clothing Rugby League has gone on a two-week mid-season break following the completion of round five.

The pause, which began this weekend, allows teams to rest and regroup after an intense opening stretch of action.
“After five weeks of intense rugby action, the 2025 BMRFB Archer Senior heads into a two-week mid-season break. This is a well-deserved breather, as clubs have been delivering incredible performances week in and week out. This break will give our teams a much needed chance to recharge, regroup, and refocus on their goals.

“I want to commend each and every team for their commitment, sportsmanship, and passion displayed on the field, giving rugby fans some long lasting memories. I’m confident that when we return, we’ll see even more thrilling matches and outstanding performances,” said tournament director George Hlatshwayo.

He added, “This break gives teams time to regroup, strategise, and prepare for the second half of the competition. Teams will also be monitoring the status of injured players, with some already dealing with the aftermath of intense matches.”

However, during the break window, some teams will still be in action to fulfil outstanding fixtures from earlier rounds.

As it stands, defending champions Old Miltonians (OMs) lead the table with 20 points (including four bonus) from four wins in as many games. They go into the break unbeaten, fresh from a 39–25 victory over their old rivals and last year’s runners-up, Matabeleland Warriors.

Warriors are second with 17 points (five bonus) from three wins and one defeat in four matches. Panthers sit third on 10 points (two bonus), with two wins and two losses. Highlanders, one of only two teams to have played five matches so far, are in fourth place with eight points after two wins and three losses.

The Bulls are fifth with six points (two bonus) from two games, having won one and lost one. Bulldogs anchor the standings with just one bonus point, winless after five outings.

In the women’s championship, Warriors top the log with 15 points (three bonus) from three wins and one defeat. Lions are second with 12 points (four bonus), while Bulldogs are third with 10 points from two victories, a draw, and one defeat.

Panthers and Highlanders round off the standings in fourth and fifth with six and five points respectively.
No women’s matches are scheduled for this weekend.
