Bulawayo basketball league resumes

THE Bulawayo Basketball Association’s (BBA) league resumes this weekend at Khanyisile Sports Centre in North End suburb.

Giants are the defending men’s champions while Southern Mavericks are the defending champions in the women’s league.

Giants, with a game in hand are fourth on the table with six points and should they win their next game, they will move up the table and be tied on eight points with leaders, Southern Mavericks (men).

To kick-start the games, Angels and Lakers will square off in a mid-day encounter followed by the Lakers Senior and Divas match at 1pm.

Three men’s matches are on cards, with defending champions Giants taking on Oilers at 3pm.

Highlanders A and B will clash at 5pm before the Oilers-Nust B encounter ends the weekend programme.

Bulawayo Basketball League promotions and marketing officer Francis Dube said: “There is a lot at stake with the National Championships on the cards. The teams will strive to do their best as they prepare for the the coming national competitions.”

The top two teams in each category at the end of the season will represent Bulawayo at the national championships.
