ELVIS “Bulawayo Bomber” Moyo is over the moon following his Thursday night’s cage fight win over Knife Didier-Kolola in Cape Town, South Africa.It was Moyo’s third win in his five fights, registering victories against Sors “Guru” Grobbelaar at the beginning of the year and in August when he overpowered Wilhelm “Tiny” Strauss. His defeats were against Brendon Groenwald in May and Andrew Van Zyl in July.
The Bulawayo-bred heavyweight pugilist whose stakes have risen in the Extreme Fighting Championship said he is now waiting for next month’s encounter against a yet to be named European opponent.
“I knew that I was going to win from the onset because I had really trained hard for Didier-Kolola. I worked on my ground work which was the problem in my other fights and it paid off.
“He (Didier-Kolola) tried to get me to the ground a couple of times but I didn’t give him a chance and I gave him quite a number of shots on his face. Now my focus is on my next match which will be in six weeks time against a European guy,” said Moyo.
The former Tshaka Youth Centre boxer-turned-wrestler believes his victory against Didier-Kolola has enhanced his chances of a title fight next March.
“What is important now is for me to maintain momentum and keep winning my matches. The crowds seem to love my style and they know that I’m going to top cage fighting soon and for that reason, I have to keep my feet on the ground and make sure that I’m better placed for a title fight.
“Obviously if I beat the European opponent that will be a plus for me in as far as working towards a title fight in March is concerned.”
Moyo will take a week off from the gym and will start his preparations for his next bill to be held in six weeks time next week.
