Chiefs Still Assembling Squad
BULAWAYO Chiefs who lost a number of players ahead of the 2024 season have taken to social media to update their status in terms of where they are with assembling their squad.
Only one player with Premier League experience Charlton Siamalonga is reported to have joined the team from Arenel Movers who also gained promotion from the Southern Region Division One last season.
Many players left Chiefs which has been struggling to pay salaries and most of them joined former coach Lizwe Sweswe at Sheasham who were relegated last season.
The club wrote an update on its social media platform yesterday on where they stand.
“The administration of Bulawayo Chiefs is pleased to announce that the team is consolidating its squad for the upcoming 2024 season. The club has undergone significant changes in its player roster with several key players leaving the team for various reasons. As a result, we have been working diligently to rebuild and strengthen the squad in preparation for the upcoming season,” it said.
The Thulani Sibanda led technical team has been actively recruiting new players to fill the gaps left by those who have departed .
“The goal is to create a balanced and cohesive squad that can compete at the highest level in domestic and international competitions,” the club wrote.
The club also assured stakeholders that they would soon update on new signings.
Players such as national team striker Obriel Chirinda, Farau Matare and defender Felix Moyo are among a few experienced players who are still with the team.
