Bulawayo Chiefs 3-1 Yadah Stars

A SEEMINGLY resurgent Bulawayo Chiefs humbled highly fancied Yadah Stars in a well-attended Castle Lager Premier Soccer match at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

Chiefs lost their first game 1-0 against Greenfuel before they drew one all with Highlanders.

They have now made it two wins on the trot after a 2-0 win over Hwange last week.

The Thulani Sibanda’s mentored side got their goals from Never Rauzhi, ex-Chicken Inn striker Leroy Ndlovu and Benjamin Addotey.
Jerry Chipangura scored Yadah’s consolation.

Sibanda was a pleased man but felt they could have done more to manage the game.

He added that their pace upfront and transitional football helped them cross the lines.

Sibanda believes that despite having a youthful team, they will come good with time and gain more.

“We started off well, we had a good first half. One good thing about the team is that we have pace upfront. Never (Rauzhi) his pace is superb, also look at people like Leroy Ndlovu and Nkosiyabo Masilela so, in terms of transition, it was a small build up and then we sent those three and it gave us goals.

“In terms of experience, it’s something that we will gain bit by bit as we play but so far so good,” said Sibanda.

His opposite number, Thomas Ruzive believes a lapse in concentration at the back cost them the game.

He believes that poster boy Khama Billiat will come to the party soon. “We are going to work, especially on our defence so that we do not concede any silly goals. I think he’s (Billiat) trying to adjust to the local football scene so he will adjust and he will score,” said Ruzive.

The Billiat effect was at play at Luveve Stadium with relatively large numbers coming in to get a glimpse of the former Warriors forward.
Meanwhile, Herentals coach Paul Benza yesterday said his team needs to start scoring goals to turn around their fortunes after suffering a home defeat at the hands of FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

They fell to a Brian Banda goal in the 50th minute.

The Students are the only team yet to score in the current campaign and yesterday they fell to a 50th minute strike by Brian Banda.

Despite the defeat to the former champions, Benza was still optimistic his team will eventually find their winning formula as the season progresses.

“The match was balanced especially in the first half,” he said yesterday.
