Bulawayo Chiefs 2-1 Herentals

SUBSTITUTE Arthur Musiyiwa’s late strike gave Bulawayo Chiefs maximum points against Herentals in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter which came alive in the second stanza at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.

In a dress rehearsal of the 2022 Chibuku Super Cup final between the two to be played at Barbourfields Stadium on November 19, Herentals were the first on the score sheet through a Denzel Chimwemwe goal after 25 minutes of play.

Chiefs would reply through Obriel Chirinda in the 60th minute. Chirinda headed home a MacClive Phiri cross from the right to score his eighth goal of the season for Amakhosi Amahle.

Musiyiwa, a replacement for Hughe Chikosa in the 72nd minute, got the winner with seven minutes to full-time after he was fed by Chirinda.

Herentals coach, Kumbirai Mutiwekuziwa felt it was a bad day in office for his charges.

“After dominating the first-half, Chiefs came back in the second-half. Credit to them for the hard work which they did and I thought the substitutions that they did were fruitful,” said Mutiwekuziwa.

Bulawayo Chiefs stand-in coach Thulani Sibanda was happy with the performance of his charges.

“I think we are improving. I am happy with the way the team played. We can’t make it into the top four. We now have to be content with a top-eight finish,” said Sibanda.
