A nil all draw was a fair result between Bulawayo Chiefs FC and visiting ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match that was played at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

One man shy, Chiefs, who watched their second substitute Ben Nyahunzwi being red carded,  held on for dear life to gain a crucial point against a marauding ZPC Kariba.

“It was a good game. We went one man short and we  managed to defend. It’s a good start for me and the hope is to continue picking up points. It was difficult to fight with one man down,” said Bulawayo Chiefs head coach Johanisi Nhumwa.

He was appointed Chiefs head coach a fortnight ago to to take over from Joseph Sibindi.

Yesterday, Nhumwa was in his second official match in charge at Amakhosi Amahle.

Last weekend, he saw his charges go down in a Chibuku Super Cup first round match which ended in a 6-5 lottery in favour of Highlanders.

In yesterday’s match, Nhumwa’s boys heavily relied on the club’s player of the moment Obriel Chirinda whose breathtaking efforts were denied  by a rather mean ZPC Kariba defence and by the woodwork.

Luke Masomere, a celebrated coach, who recently took charge at ZPC Kariba, said they could have beaten their opponents.

“We should have scored one or two goals to beat the opponents. However, a draw away from home is not a bad result. In my personal view, we could have wrapped up the match when they went a man down. In the second half we cried for a penalty which was not granted to us,” said Masomere, a self proclaimed Zimbabwean Doctor of Football.

With three PSL matches scheduled for today, Bulawayo Chiefs are currently on position eight with 24 points. ZPC Kariba are on number 11, one point adrift from Amakhosi Amahle.
