AMBITIOUS Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit, Bulawayo Chiefs, have scooped a silver medal in the Matabeleland Top Brands and Marketing Excellence Awards that were spearheaded by the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ).

Better known as Amakhosi Amahle, Chiefs were the first runners-up in the Best Regional Social Media and Digital Marketing of the Year 2023 category.

The team’s spokesperson Thulani “Javas” Sibanda said they were more than happy for the achievement.

“It’s always a great pleasure to be recognised for efforts, especially off the field as well as it is something that means a lot to brand Bulawayo Chiefs. But above all this means a lot to football as it proves that a Football team can be a brand on its own. It encourages us to strike a balance between playing football on the field and also marketing the football in the golden era of digitalisation. As a team we are excited about this,” said Sibanda.

Bulawayo Chiefs have managed to foster a huge social media community and become the most popular Zimbabwean club on Twitter and Instagram.

Chiefs are the only local football club with a verified X Handle, which was previously known as Twitter.
