A DAY after winning the inaugural President Children’s Party football contest in Murambinda, Simba Bhora were back on the road to prepare for another away test in the Castle Lager Premiership.
The Shamva side will proceed to Bulawayo where they are set to play unpredictable Bulawayo Chiefs on Sunday at Luveve.
Simba Bhora is currently enjoying top form after winning all their previous Castle Lager Premiership games to ease into second place on the log standings after six games.
Tonderai Ndiraya’s men beat Hwange, Yadah, and giants Dynamos in the league competition before dispatching this year’s Independence celebrations host province side Manica Diamonds via a penalty shoot-out and lift the President’s Children’s Party football challenge.
Ndiraya yesterday sounded upbeat as they made the journey back to Shamva to prepare for the trip to Bulawayo.
Simba Bhora made a huge statement last Sunday when they edged giants Dynamos 1-0 at their Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva, with star midfielder Walter Musona scoring the solitary goal in that match.
The Shamva side this year assembled a highly competitive side that also has some talented players such as Perfect Chikwende Tichaona Chipunza, Junior Makunike, Malvin Mkolo, Blessing Moyo, Mthokozisi Msebe, and Tymon Machope.
Unfortunately, midfielder Gift Saunyama will not be among the travelling players as he is suspended this week after picking three yellow cards. The last time they played Chiefs in Bulawayo they emerged 1-0 victors, in October 2023.
Simba Bhora, however, should not expect an easy outing against the Chiefs. The Ninjas have had a fair start to this year’s campaign but should be feeling the heat after picking up just one point in their last two games. They are coming from a disappointing 0-2 away defeat to new boys Bikita Minerals. But they boosted their morale with a penalty shootout win in the Independence Day match against Chicken Inn at White City Stadium yesterday.
