CHURCHES from across Bulawayo will converge at Hartsfield Stadium on Saturday for a free citywide evening of worship and prayer aimed at promoting unity among Christians.
Dubbed Stadium Worship, the gathering will run from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, with gates opening at 5pm, under the theme: “One City. One Voice. One Name.”
The event follows months of prayer, worship rehearsals, choir practices and leadership meetings involving churches from different denominations across the city.
Organisers said more than 100 prayer meetings and other activities had been held as churches worked towards building unity around Jesus.
The initiative has also been supported by the Kingdom Nation campaign, which has shared messages and stories of hope through social media, YouTube and national radio.
Organisers said the event would not promote individual churches, personalities or artists.
There will be no church logos, brands or individual introductions, with the programme centred on collective worship and prayer.
“This has never been about building a platform or promoting a ministry. It’s simply an invitation for the Church to gather around Jesus, pray for our city, and declare together: Your Kingdom come, Your will be done,” said Stadium Worship Core Team member Tommy Deuschle.
The organisers said they had worked with local authorities and partners to ensure the gathering was safe and well managed.
Hundreds of volunteers are expected to assist during the event, while churches, businesses and individuals across Bulawayo have contributed towards its staging.
