Bulawayo City Council receives eight refuse trucks

The City of Bulawayo on Friday has taken delivery of eight refuse compactors on a 12-month contract from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.

The council was operating with four compactors while four others are undergoing servicing, and 11 are undergoing major repairs.

The new compactors are expected to ease refuse collection challenges in collecting refuse that the council was experiencing, particularly in the eastern suburbs, due to the mechanical challenges.

It requires a complement of 25 compactors to efficiently and effectively service Bulawayo.

Refuse collection remains a major challenge for many towns and cities.
