BULAWAYO City Council has advised motorists of temporary road closures at the intersection of Herbert Chitepo Street and Leopold Takawira Street and 8th Avenue on Tuesday.

In a statement, the City of Bulawayo town clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, said the road closures were necessary to facilitate localised resurfacing works in preparation for the installation of reinforced concrete safety barriers along Hebert Chitepo Street between 5th Avenue and 9th Avenue, scheduled for June 2026.

“In the interest of public and worker safety, full carriageway closures will be implemented at the affected intersections for the duration of the works, together with appropriate traffic management and diversion measures. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to traffic flow and business operations,” read the statement.

Mr Dube urged motorists and members of the public to exercise caution when approaching the affected areas, observe all warning signs and traffic control measures and comply with the designated diversion routes.
