A BULAWAYO company has been formed to train and vet maids, gardeners and runners, with an aim of ensuring that locals can employ trusted personnel to look after their children and homes.
Over the years, there have been reports of house maids and gardeners who abuse their bosses’ kids and True Shine Professional Cleaners says it is coming in to ensure that those who seek to hire maids hire trained and professional people who can be trusted.
“We are saying gone are the days where maids are just hired from the streets or from anywhere without training. Over the years this has caused problems such as abuse and thefts.
“We now recruit maids and gardeners, vet and train them so that we produce professional people,” said the company in a statement.
“We also want to include people called runners. These are people whom you can send to do your errands such as shopping or driving while you continue with your job.
The company said so far they have recruited 50 maids and gardeners.
“By September we hope to have about 800 in our books. Apart from serving the interest of the employers, we also help to negotiate salaries for these maids and gardeners. We understand that most maids are paid around $85 per month but we all know that it is no longer sustainable, we are looking at around $200 per month.”
“Our main target is to help the working mother, we know it can be busy at work and today you need a trusted person to be looking after your home and children.”
