The Christmas Eve female jazz music fete held at Cape to Cairo lived to its billing so patrons should brace themselves for more weekly jazz fused musicians.
The music fest that featured Nkwali, Lady Tshawe, Tsungie, Ashley and Gugu dubbed “X-Mas Eve Divas Nite” proved to be a step in the positive direction in promoting female artistes. The artists indeed proved that they are diamonds in the dirt.
Each of the songbirds took to the stage and melodiously captivated the audience which became more eager to listen as the show proceeded capturing the jazz theme of Cape to Cairo.
Lady Tshawe gracefully opened the stage giving out her best performance and for a minute got the crowd eating from her palm with her poetic prowess, as if that was not enough to break the ice, she invited on stage social media comedian Nceku who stole the limelight for a few seconds.
Nkwali, an ex-member of IYASA, proved that she still has what it takes with a few dance moves, accompanied by her melodious voice and social commentary lyrics.
The highlight of the show was the young Ashley who despite performing cover arts, proved that singing is innate talent and the show was just the right platform.
Visibly impressed manager and coordinator of the show, Bonisani Mafela said he wants such shows to be held every week.
“The show was fairly attended. We appreciate the support Bulawayo fans have showed us and we plan to have such shows every week. This is a way of promoting female musicians in Bulawayo,” said Mafela.
