A BULAWAYO woman is appealing for assistance from well-wishers who can help her raise US$13 000 to take her four-year-old son for emergency heart surgery in India.

Mrs Simiso Nyamazana from Emakhandeni suburb told The Chronicle yesterday that her son Thamsanqa Mudimba has a congenital heart disease and needs urgent surgery in India.

She said Thamsanqa was born with the disease which is worsening and she is failing to raise the required amount for him to be treated.

“My son is in pain battling for his life. At Mpilo (Central Hospital) they told us that they can’t treat him. He will have to go to India where we got the lowest quotation. We have tried to organise the money as a family but we could not reach the required target,” Mrs Nyamazana said.

“We are appealing to members of the public to assist us so that my son gets treated and can be relieved from pain.

“Well-wishers can contact me on 0773 962 657 for Ecocash transactions”.

Recently, Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Cde Judith Ncube engaged the Ministry of Health and Child Care to address the plight of local children suffering from heart complications who were forced to travel to Harare or overseas for treatment.

The Minister’s intervention came a week after a four-month-old Bulawayo baby died after the child’s family failed to raise US$10 000 for her to undergo an emergency heart surgery in India.
