ATHLETES from five provinces are taking part in the Bulawayo Athletics Board Track and Field Championship at White City Stadium on Saturday.
The provinces are using the event to prepare athletes for the Zimbabwe National Youth Games to be hosted by Mashonaland East town of Marondera.
Youth Games were last held before the Covid era and were a good development and exposure platform for young athletes in a number of sporting events.
Sport and Recreation Commission director general Allen Mavunga is a product of the Games having participated as a basketball player in 2003.
Watson Madanyika the chairman of the host athletics board said Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Masvingo and the Midlands are in attendance.
The event will end on Saturday afternoon with relays.
