THE Bulawayo City Council has invited churches, artistes, community organisations and individuals to provide free public entertainment in the city’s parks as part of the 2026 Christmas festivities.
The initiative is aimed at creating a festive atmosphere across the city while providing local creatives and community groups with an opportunity to showcase their talents.
According to a notice issued by the council on September 4, the programme will feature a range of entertainment activities, including choirs, drama, poetry, live music and community singing.
“It has been a practice over the years to organise functions or entertainment in the Parks to mark the approach of the festive season in order to engender a joyous mood amongst the Bulawayo community at Christmas time,” read the announcement.
The council said the festivities would not be confined to the city centre but would also be rolled out at ward level as part of a city-wide programme.
“The City of Bulawayo is inviting churches, upcoming artistes, individuals and other community associations who would like to stage free public entertainment to participate in the 2026 Christmas Festivities in the Parks.
“It is hoped that a varied programme can be arranged and suggestions include choirs, drama, poetry, band music and community singing among other forms of entertainment,” the council said.
Interested groups have been urged to submit details of their preferred dates, times and proposed entertainment activities to the Office of the Town Clerk.
The council is also encouraging organisations to spruce up their premises and surrounding areas and assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the city during the festive season.
Community groups, artistes and organisations have until October 2 to submit their proposals.
