BULAWAYO Legends, a football team made up of former Premier Soccer League stars, beat CABS 5-2 in a social soccer match played Sunday afternoon at the Bulawayo Chiefs village.

The venue was buzzing as Bulawayo’s football legends traded passes and banter with Harare bankers in a match that brought together fitness, fun, and nostalgia on a sunny afternoon.

Bulawayo’s star-studded side featured household names like Herbert Dick, Danisa Phiri, Gift Lunga Jnr, Siza Khoza, Wonder Mpofu and Voster Chitema, who showed they still have plenty of flair left in their boots.

CABS sports coordinator David Nkata said the match was part of the bank’s wellness drive.

“As a company, we value the importance of sport in the wellbeing of our employees. Playing keeps them fit and allows them to interact with others, which is great for mental health too,” he said.

He said the Harare-based team’s trip to Bulawayo was also about inspiration.

“Meeting football idols like these guys motivates our staff to embrace sport and healthy living,” Nkata said.

Former Highlanders defender Danisa Phiri said the social games help the retired stars stay in shape and connected. “We’re now in our forties and fifties, but social soccer keeps us going. It’s a great way to exercise, laugh, and catch up,” he said.
