Bulawayo man killed over beer

A Bulawayo man died at a sports bar after being stabbed on the eye following an altercation over beer.

The incident occurred in the Emganwini area and the victim, Theophelus Mhlanga (29) was stabbed with a broken beer bottle.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of murder which occurred on November 7, 2023 at a sports bar in Emganwini. The suspect, Majaha Ngwenya, struck Theophelus Mhlanga aged 29 with an empty beer bottle on the eye after an argument over beer,” he said.

The victim died the following day while admitted at a local hospital in Bulawayo.

Ngwenya is now on the run.
