The Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development is today hosting the Bulawayo International Women’s Day celebrations at the Amphitheatre under the theme ‘Rights, Justice, Action, For All Women and Girls’.

The event, which began with a match at Tredgold building, has brought together government officials, small and medium enterprise stakeholders, schools, and residents of Bulawayo to commemorate Women’s Month.
Speaking during the event, the Acting Managing Director for National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), Miss Aina Kaguru, applauded the women present for uniting in the fight for equal rights with men.

“The last time I checked we were at 60% and men are still at 100% which means as women we are doing our best in fighting for our rights,” she said.
“Men, we are not fighting with you but we just want all of us as humans to be equal.”
Solidarity messages from different organizations including the Zimbabwe Gender Commission, Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association, Musasa Project, and Emthonjeni Women’s Forum resonated with the crowd, highlighting the ongoing need to fight for equality in the nation.
Eveline High School’s drama club delivered a special performance depicting the challenges faced by women who are marginalised in society.
The event will also be graced by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Honourable Raji Modi.
