A 24-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has been fined US$400 or alternatively four months in prison after he lost control of his vehicle and caused an accident that left two passengers seriously injured.

Servious Nkosiyazi Sibanda from Emganwini was convicted of negligent driving by Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga. His driver’s licence was endorsed and he was banned from driving for two years.

The prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete, told the court that the accident occurred on 26 April at around 3.15 AM.
“Sibanda was driving a Honda Fit along Nketa Drive with four passengers on board. Upon reaching an area near Emganwini Secondary School, he lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned,” he said.

Two passengers sustained serious injuries and were referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical treatment.
