Highlanders provided Ndimande, Brian Ndlovu, Albert Tawanda, Munyaradzi Dabe, Maclean Chirwa, Lethukuthula Nkomo and veteran of many battles Nkululeko Ncube.
League organising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo said the players would meet the provincial leadership on Friday at Highlanders Sports Club.
“This time we do not want to leave any stone unturned as we want to win this trophy,” said Nkomo. Highlanders’ Jackson Ndimande was in no nonsense mood during the trials and duly emerged the winner. Fairbridge’s Tapera Makado, Railstars’ Patrick Zimidzi, Moses Ndlovu of Old Nic Mine and Bosso’s Brian Ndlovu complete the top five list.
“When we meet on Friday we want to come out with the best team because we know each other as players, someone could have just been lucky during trials but when it comes to a real tournament, the player might fail to reproduce his trials’ form,” said Nkomo.
Nkomo and his colleagues in the executive also ought to have been strict on who should attend the trials, instead of opening the show to anyone as long as the player was registered with a team.
Some players that made it are yet to play a league game this season.
All the other provinces will bring two men’s teams and a single female team but Bulawayo will be allowed three teams as they are playing host to the games.
Kerapetsi Mlea was the only player from Wisewaters who made it to the finals while Railstars had Zimidzi, Sikhumbuzo Muzondiwa, Bornface Maningi and Ndabezinhle Ngwenya.
The Easter Holidays Tournament will also act as a selection platform for players who will represent Zimbabwe in the Zone Six finals and that alone should help spur the team on.
Women’s qualifiers will be held on Saturday.
