Bulawayo police crackdown on unauthorized gatherings

Online Reporter

Bulawayo police are intensifying efforts to arrest several Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members accused of organizing and participating in illegal meetings in Gwabalanda. This move follows the arrest of 25 CCC members in May for similar offenses.

Among those being actively sought by law enforcement are prominent party figures Lookmore Ntini, Thabani Ndlovu, Davison Mthimkulu, and Kudzai Banda.

In an official statement, the police said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is committed to maintaining public order and enforcing the law. We have credible information that certain CCC members continue to organize unauthorized gatherings in Gwabalanda, which contravenes the Public Order and Security Act. These actions jeopardize community safety and disrupt the peace in Bulawayo.”

“Following the arrests made in May, it is disappointing to note that some individuals are disregarding the law. We urge those involved to cease such activities immediately and comply with lawful directives. Those named in our investigation, including Lookmore Ntini, Thabani Ndlovu, Davison Mthimkulu, and Kudzai Banda, are advised to surrender to the nearest police station to avoid further legal consequences.”

The police have assured the public that they will continue to monitor political activities closely to ensure that all gatherings adhere to the legal framework. Meanwhile, the CCC has not yet issued an official response to the ongoing police actions.
