THE Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province has started preparing for next year’s harmonised elections with a two-day conference that opened yesterday at Bulawayo Polytechnic meant to come up with a strategy on how to mobilise voters.
Speaking at the conference, Zanu-PF Deputy Secretary for Women Affairs Cde Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo said the conference was meant to equip party members with skills to mobilise the electorate to vote for the party next year.
“It is time that we prepare ourselves for the 2018 elections. This workshop is to address all the weaknesses and strengths that we can identify and even opportunities and come up with solutions. The party has a lot of challenges nowadays as we know we have so many outbursts from a number of our colleagues and it is important that we bring our family, which is the Bulawayo family together so that we do not get swayed from the main agenda which is winning the 2018 elections. The most important issue in this whole thing is Zanu-PF, we take the party as someone we need to protect.
“We are appealing to our members to tell us the strengths, threats and opportunities which they see that can help us win. We want to commit to the party as Bulawayo,” said Cde Moyo, who is also the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Bulawayo.
She said party members must work together to deliver victory during the elections.
“The question one should have in mind is ‘Are we ready for 2018? We as a party should be visible, I must say in the previous election our strength was promotional material. We should also teach each other how to win in 2018, building the image of the party,” she said.
The party’s Secretary for the Disabled, Cde Joshua Malinga, said it was important for people in Bulawayo to vote for the ruling party.
“We are preparing ourselves and workshops like these help us. We have lost in the previous years here in Bulawayo, hence we need to come back and in 2018, Zanu-PF will clean sweep Bulawayo,” he said.
Provincial chairman Cde Dennis Ndlovu said Bulawayo was emerging stronger than in the previous years.
“Our province is stronger than it has ever been, and we are busy mobilising more party members and we hope we win in next year’s elections because our membership is growing,” he said.
