BULAWAYO is ready for a sporting bonanza as the inaugural Kuzana Sport and Creatives Economy Expo Zimbabwe (SCEEZ) gets underway today at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds.
For the next five days, the city will become the centre of Zimbabwean sport, with a packed programme that includes a marathon, boxing and the much-awaited Highlanders-Dynamos football spectacle.
The scale of the programme makes the event more than just another event on the sporting calendar.
It is a huge gathering bringing sport, business, entertainment, culture and investment together, with the Government hoping to demonstrate the economic potential of the country’s sporting and creative industries.
The Expo, which runs from today until October 11, is being held under the theme “KUZANA: Towards Vision 2030 through Art and Creative Industries.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Nicholas Moyo said the country was now only hours away from the historic event.
“The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is pleased to announce that Zimbabwe is now only a couple of hours away from the inaugural Kuzana Sport and Creative Economy Expo Zimbabwe (SCEEZ), which will take place from tomorrow until 11 October 2026 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds in Bulawayo.”
Moyo said the Expo was aimed at turning Zimbabwe’s sporting and creative talent into sustainable economic opportunities.
“We want to see athletes becoming professionals and entrepreneurs; creatives accessing markets and investment; young people building sustainable careers; creative businesses identifying new opportunities and Zimbabwean sport and creative products competing confidently in regional and international markets.”
The sporting programme will provide some of the biggest attractions during the five-day showcase.
The Highlanders-Dynamos football spectacle, in particular, is expected to command significant attention in a city where the two clubs enjoy massive support.
The marathon and boxing will add to the sporting flavour, while music and other creative activities ensure the Expo appeals beyond the traditional sports audience.
Moyo said Kuzana provides a meeting point between sport and investment, with the Expo bringing together Government, the private sector, sporting organisations, athletes, creatives, investors, development partners, academia and innovators.
And as the gates open today, Bulawayo finds itself at the heart of a national event that seeks to place sport firmly within the country’s economic development agenda.
Moyo ended his statement with a rallying call to Zimbabweans to embrace the event.
“From the high-level conferences and exhibitions, to the marathon, music festival, boxing and the Highlanders-Dynamos football spectacle, KUZANA SCEEZ 2026 promises five days of engagement, opportunity and celebration.”
