BULAWAYO Province has sent a condolence message to the late Vice President John Landa Nkomo family following the death of his mother Gogo Macitshi Dube Nkomo. Gogo MaDube died on Tuesday at the age of 112 at the family home in Famona suburb due to complications related to old age. Yesterday, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Bulawayo, Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo, said Gogo MaDube raised children who turned out to be nation builders.
“On behalf of Bulawayo province and on my own behalf, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Nkomo family on the passing of Gogo MaDube, mother of the late VP of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde John Landa Nkomo,” said Cde Moyo.
“We appreciate Gogo MaDube for the hero she gave birth to, a hero for Zimbabwe and the people of Matabeleland. We’re with the Nkomo family during this difficult time and pray that God continues to give them strength. May her dear soul rest in peace.”
The late Gogo MaDube’s grandson, Cde Jabulani Nkomo, said a church service would be held at Doves Funeral parlour in Bulawayo before burial at their homestead in Bhule, Tsholotsho on Sunday.
“We’re going to hold a service at Doves on Saturday (tomorrow) at about 2PM. After the service we’re going to head straight to our rural home in Tsholotsho, Bhule Village 1 for burial the following morning. The burial programme will start at 9AM on Sunday,” said Cde Nkomo.
Gogo MaDube is survived by six children, about 152 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mourners are gathered at the Nkomo family home at Number 2 Clyde Road in Famona.
