BULAWAYO has been the centre of Zimbabwe’s equestrian world for the past four days, hosting the country’s premier showjumping and dressage competition at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Arena, which wraps up this Tuesday afternoon.
The event, now in its 70th year, is a highlight on the Zimbabwe Equestrian Federation calendar.
“This year marks our 70th anniversary of staging the show at Bulawayo’s premier venue,” said Tanya Oliver, chairperson of the Matabeleland branch of the ZEF.
Riders from Bulawayo and Harare — the country’s most active equestrian hubs — competed for top honours. Harare will host the prestigious national championships next month.
Among the competitors were Team Zimbabwe’s Terry Angelos and Keely Downey, fresh from representing the country at the Africa Schools Games in Algeria last week.
