BULAWAYO teams Mpopoma Sports Academy (Mposa) and Highlanders Royals suffered defeats in their Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) away fixtures over the weekend.

Mpopoma lost 1-0 to Kwekwe Queens, ending a 10-game unbeaten run.

Evans Netha, Mposa coach, said his team lost in a competitive game against an opponent that had improved significantly since the first half of the season. He added that Kwekwe Queens had strengthened their squad by signing experienced players who added value to the team.

“We got our chances but never used them, they got one chance and they utilised it,” said Netha.

Highlanders Royals were defeated 1-0 by Cranborne Royals, who are battling relegation this season. The Royals sit on 22 points after winning seven of their 18 games.
