Bulawayo to host Zanu-PF conference

national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo announced the dates while addressing delegates from the party’s 10 provinces at the inaugural annual people’s conference workshop held at Belvedere Teachers College in Harare yesterday.

“We are going to have our annual people’s conference in Bulawayo from the 6th to the 10th of December. We are also going to have a meeting of the secretaries general of the former liberation movements during the course of that conference,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo told the delegates Zanu-PF was a revolutionary party with a proven history and stood ready to defend the gains of independence from Western aggression using their local proxies.
“We are in charge of this country and we will never surrender it to colonisers who are now returning through their puppets in our midst. We are not going to be intimidated by the former colonisers, we shall defend the country come what may,” he said.

POLITICAL PARTIES: ZANU-PF

Zanu-PF, he said, had a proven history dating back to the liberation struggle and would not allow fly-by-night political parties to reverse the gains of independence.
He said the departed heroes like the late Vice Presidents Joshua Nkomo and Simon Muzenda, Cde Herbert Chitepo, General Solomon Mujuru and others would turn in their graves if Zimbabweans allowed their heritage to be taken over by former colonial powers.

Cde Khaya Moyo urged the delegates to defend the party.
“The Unity Accord is irreversible. It was signed by two great leaders and was endorsed by the two congresses of Zanu and Zapu. We are here to say history goes with responsibility and you are the vanguard of the party,” he said.

He urged the participants to work closely with the party’s ordinary supporters.
“People do not care much about how much you know but how much you care, so you must put people first. We are a principled party and we want to see you leading the party.

“You must always be vigilant and we must know that from people we came and from people we shall go,” Cde Khaya Moyo said.
Zanu-PF secretary for the commissariat Cde Webster Shamu urged party members to be disciplined.

“We want a culture of discipline in the party and for you to emulate our leaders like President Mugabe. Whatever you learn here you should go and spread to all the structures of the party in your provinces,” he said.

Zanu-PF director of publications in the commissariat department Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said the workshop was organised to equip delegates to run the conference smoothly.
“The workshop is to equip our members to better manage our conference in December. We must be professional in the discharge of our duties,” said Cde Machacha.

He said the workshop was dealing with issues to do with handling large numbers of people coming to the conference, securing accommodation and ushering of delegates.
