POLICE in Bulawayo arrested three suspects from Entumbane suburb today, Wednesday, and recovered drugs that include dagga, alcohol, weight gain tablets and cough syrups.

Instruments used to inhale drugs, papers used for smoking famously known as rizzlers, skin-lightening creams and self-defence sprays were among the contraband.

Elton Ndlovu (37), Asprila Maphosa (23) and Lydia Ndlovu-Mthikhulu (27) were arrested in the early morning raid.

All the suspects have been arrested before for various crimes.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube in a Press briefing said the operation is among many other operations conducted by the police in Entumbane suburb.

He said it was also a follow-up on the reports of 17 youths from the suburb who have been hospitalised for drug abuse.

“Police received information to the effect that there were two houses that were dealing in dangerous drugs. The information was important in that it led to the application for a search warrant which empowered our police officers to search the houses in question and it led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the drugs,” said Insp Ncube.

He said the suspects will go to court for prosecution.

Insp Ncube thanked members of the public for giving tips that lead to arrest of criminals.
