THE Bulawayo chapter of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators Association has endorsed President Mugabe as Zanu-PF’s sole candidate ahead of the party’s December elective congress.

The organisation’s information and publicity secretary, Cde Thomas Nyatsvimbo, in a statement yesterday described President Mugabe as a revolutionary icon who has fought and continues to fight against colonialist forces.

“President Mugabe is an incomparable, very principled, revolutionary icon, statesman, nationalist, and Pan-Africanist who led the hard, protracted armed struggle that was inexplicably painful . . . He’s also been steadfast in denouncing the illegal sanctions by the West and Anglo-Saxons, the British,” said Nyatsvimbo.

He praised the President for bringing about the land reform programme and formulating the nation’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset, which has resulted in major deals being struck with China.

The war collaborators also endorsed the First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe, and hailed her for denouncing factionalism and corruption within Zanu-PF during her recent nationwide ‘Meet the People’ tour.

“In the same vein, we endorse and congratulate the First Lady, Our Mother Dr Grace Mugabe to be the secretary of the Women’s League. The First Lady is a principled, honest and straightforward leader and she has proved that by denouncing factionalism in Zanu-PF, and even calling them to stop corruption.”

He warned rogue elements within the party who were bent on sullying the President’s name against attempting to clandestinely remove a constitutionally elected President from power.

“To those people who’re destructive we also repeat to say,Mama we noticed all you did in the 10 provinces and it made us happy because the country was being held to ransom by sell-outs,” said Nyatsvimbo.
