A Bulawayo Zanu-PF youth leader, Cde Ganizani Phiri, has won an award in recognition of his commitment to youth empowerment and community diplomacy.
Cde Phiri received the Best Innovative Problem Solving Award at the recently held Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province Excellence Awards Ceremony, organised by the Bulawayo Provincial Youth League.
The ceremony was held under the theme “Consolidating Legacy, Championing Development: A Cadreship of Distinction in the Second Republic.”
Speaking after receiving the award, Cde Phiri said the honour celebrates the collective achievements of youths in his ward and acknowledges the importance of creating platforms that give young people a voice in governance.
“For the past three years, I have focused on civic participation initiatives, particularly free medical outreach programmes. Most importantly, I have been leading youth leadership simulations and training workshops aimed at equipping young people with problem-solving skills and helping them live productive lives,” said Cde Phiri.
He said his programmes also focus on vocational empowerment, enabling youths to generate income and support themselves.
“I have also launched a civic chamber for youth diplomacy, which serves as a platform for young leaders to engage in policy dialogue and drive community impact,” he said.
Cde Phiri said he will continue supporting young people in empowering themselves and becoming responsible citizens.
Nearly 70 categories were contested at the awards, with youths distinguishing themselves through mobilisation and community impact in line with the party’s enduring motto: “Service. Discipline. Victory.” Other categories included best performing commissariat, information and publicity, fashion and design, arts, management and charity work.
