LOBENGULA Primary School, a Bulawayo-based school, have returned home as champions after an outstanding performance at the Munhumutapa Tournament held in Kwekwe on July 28, where they outclassed competitors from nine provinces to lift the prestigious title.
The triumph has been hailed as a reward for the team’s discipline, unity and unwavering belief throughout the competition, with the young footballers displaying courage and determination against some of the country’s best school teams.
Speaking after the victory, Lobengula Primary School Sports Director Janet Taderera praised the players for their commitment, discipline and fighting spirit.
“We are incredibly proud of our boys who represented the school at the Munhumutapa tournament in Kwekwe. They competed against teams from nine provinces and showed tremendous discipline, unity and belief throughout the tournament. This victory is not just for the team, but for our entire school community, our coaches, parents, teachers and everyone who stood by us,” she said.
She added: “We came to compete, we came to learn and we came to win, and the boys delivered. We celebrate this achievement and will use it as a foundation to reach even greater heights next season.”
The sports director also expressed heartfelt gratitude to those whose support made the successful campaign possible.
“I would like to sincerely thank Councillor Lezina Muhammad, TTI, Winya Sounds, Junior Makunike, our School Development Committee (SDC), and everyone else who supported our boys financially and emotionally. Their encouragement gave the team the confidence to believe in themselves and achieve something special,” she said.
The victory marks another milestone for Lobengula Primary School’s growing reputation as a breeding ground for sporting excellence, with the school now looking forward to building on its success in future competitions.
