WITH this season’s theme being “Empowering Youth and building communities through sports”, the Community Champions League (CCL) in Bulilima has come together for the second season as preparations continue for the initiative to become a successful and sustainable project.
The league’s structure comprises wards 1, 2, 3 and 17 in Bulilima District, with nine football teams from different villages having affiliated to ensure the initiative maintains momentum.
Nkosilathi Makhosonke, the Public Relations Officer for the CCL organisation, expressed his excitement, saying this season will bring more developments within the organisation.
“The wait is almost over! The Community Champions League is gearing up for its highly anticipated Season 2, and we need your support. This time we bring more talent and more community spirit.”
Makhosonke added that this season will see the league expanding from six to ten teams, with all the previous top teams returning.
“The reigning Champions that is Diba FC, Nyabane FC, Tshankwa FC, Flamingos FC, Sikhathini FC, and Natane FC will be returning. Expected to join us is Black Tigers FC, Shining Stars FC, Delela FC and Gwambe FC.” said Makhosonke.
The league’s purpose was initiated by the community after receiving a green light from Headman, Somfula. Its main objectives are to promote youth development and empowerment through sport, reduce crime and substance abuse among young people, foster community unity and social cohesion, and provide a platform for talented youths to showcase their skills.
The first match is set to begin on May 2, 2026 at Somfula Grounds, with each team required to affiliate with an amount of R1 310.
The CCL was launched on May 5, 2025.
