THE Bulawayo United Residents’ Association (Bura) has raised $5,060 towards a project to erect a perimeter wall at Mpilo Central Hospital.Vice-President Joice Mujuru and two ministers, Cdes Oppah Muchinguri and Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo, have donated a total of 200 bricks.
Bura chairman Winos Dube said $200,000 was needed for the project, launched in March.
“We need a lot of money for this project and we will not stop until Mpilo hospital is surrounded by a wall,” Dube said.
He said the association was appealing for help, especially from the business sector for financial support.
“We need help in this project especially from the businesspeople. If you are a business person and you sponsor with three panels or more of the wall, we let you advertise your business on the front wall of the hospital as a token of appreciation,” he said.
Bura secretary Samuel Moyo said they will move door-to-door asking for donations of at least $1 for the wall project.
“We will move from house-to-house asking for money towards this project. It is not a force matter but anyone who is willing to support is welcome,” said Moyo.
Dube said they had donations in kind towards the project.
“We received 100 bricks from Minister (of Bulawayo Province) Eunice Moyo, 50 bricks from VP Amai Mujuru and 50 bricks from Minister Oppah Muchinguri towards the wall project. We want to thank them for their support,” he said.
