BULAWAYO is about to go WILD this Independence Day as engines roar and tyres scream at ZKS Spinners Arena.
Motorsport lovers are in for a heart-thumping experience on April 18 as the city hosts the explosive “Independence
Burnouts” to celebrate Zimbabwe’s 46th Uhuru anniversary.
This is not just any event — it’s a FULL-ON adrenaline FEST!
Top spinners from across the region are expected to light up the arena, including The Rock, Wababa from Zambia, Seisa from Lesotho, King Joe Phiri from Botswana and Lockdiff from South Africa.
And guess what? Local stars are ready to bring the heat too.
Fans will see favourites like Team Ghost, Team Ba Love, Ben, Team Mahogany, Ben AK47, Shaka, Mastanda, Sbahle, Shaun, Bhova, Malinga and Team Damien showing off their skills.
The message is clear — this is AFRICA united through spinning.
But wait, there’s more.
It’s not just about cars — it’s a family day out.
Revellers can enjoy live music, DJs, and even fun activities like ostrich viewing and horse riding.
ZKS Spinners Arena boss Zakhele Mlilo says everything is set for a big day.
“Independence Day is about our culture, unity and the struggle for freedom. At ZKS, we bring people together through spinning, which is now a recognised sport in Bulawayo,” he said.
He added that the event is also about giving people a reason to celebrate in style.
“Some people overlook this important day, so we are creating a platform for them to celebrate while enjoying what they love.
“We have worked hard to make sure everything is perfect,” said Mlilo.
For years, spinning was seen as a bad thing, often linked to crime.
But that’s changing fast.
ZKS Spinners Arena is leading the charge to turn spinning into a respected motorsport while building community pride.
Mlilo also called on locals to support the movement.
“As we celebrate Independence, let’s also honour our heroes who fought for our freedom. Because of them, we can enjoy things like motorsport today,” he said.
One thing is certain — Bulawayo will be loud, proud and full of smoke this Uhuru.
