A SUSPECTED armed robber raided a Bulawayo home and robbed the family of money and cellphones at gunpoint.
The suspect, who is still at large, took US$121, R70 and $500, and three cellphones.
Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident, which occurred in the early hours on Monday in Burnside.
“We are investigating a case of armed robbery which took place at a house in Burnside. The suspect, who is slim built and appears to be in his 30s, accessed the house through an open toilet window shortly after 1AM,” she said.
Asst Insp Msebele said the suspect proceeded to one of the rooms where he found the occupant, a 27-year-old woman, sleeping alone.
He produced a black pistol and pointed it to the woman as he demanded cash.
“The suspect took her Itel A56 cellphone and US$21 before he force-marched the woman to a cottage where her father was sleeping. He demanded cash from him and was given R70 and $500,” said the police spokesperson.
The suspect demanded more money before he fired a single gunshot, hitting the mattress and the wall.
“Out of fear, the victims gave the suspect US$100 and two phones, a Tecno Pova Android smartphone and an iPhone 8 Plus. He then demanded car keys of the complainant’s silver Chevrolet,” said Asst Insp Msebele.
She said the suspect went to the victim’s car and searched it, but he found nothing and left. No arrests have been made so far. -@Reeky60245168
