Burnt body of teen found

Police in Kwekwe are investigating a case in which a body believed to be that of a girl aged between 15 and 18 was found burnt beyond recognition along the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road early this month. The body was found at the 23km peg at a lay-by.

Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Assistant Inspector Portia Chinho said they suspect that the girl could have been murdered by unknown assailants.

“CID Kwekwe is investigating a case of murder of an unknown female young person whose body was burnt beyond recognition. On March 6, 2018, the body was found burnt beyond recognition by a passer-by who reported the matter to the police,” she said.

She said the body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
“The doctor concluded that it is a female person aged between 15 and 18 years,” Detective Asst Insp Chinho said.
She appealed to anyone missing a female relative in and around Kwekwe and Gokwe to contact CID Kwekwe on (055) 22745, Detective Asst Insp Zimende on 0773 485 346, national complaints desk on (04) 703631 or any nearest police station.
