Burnt human remains found in Ruwa

Human remains comprising legs up to the knees and charred bones were found at an open space along Mutare Road in Ruwa on Sunday while other remains were also found in Sadza area buried in a shallow grave.

Police have since launched investigations into the case and the remains were taken to a local hospital.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

“On September 25, 2022, police in Ruwa received a report in which human remains, comprising legs up to knee level and burnt bones, were found at an open space along Mutare Road near George Shops, Ruwa.

“Investigations are in progress and we are appealing to anyone with information that might assist us with these investigations to contact any nearest police station,” he said.

In another case, police in Sadza area, Mashonaland East Province are also investigating a case where the remains of a 51-year-old man were found in a shallow pit at Jacha Village, Sadza, last Thursday.

Asst Comm Nyathi said they have intensified investigations into these cases and they believed that the victim were murdered by unknown assailants.

Meanwhile, police in Norton arrested Simbabrashe Nhete (31) in connection with a case of murder in which the victim, Trymore Gent died on Sunday at Drummonds Farm after being stabbed with a knife.

In another case, the police are investigating a murder case in which a body of a 20-year-old man was found lying on the ground with stab wounds on the neck, nose, and protruding intestines, at Queenspark East Shops, Bulawayo, last Saturday at around 2am.

“The ZRP is also investigating another murder case which occurred at Georgia Farm, Gwanda, on September 23, 2022 at around 4am, where Nhlanhla Sibanda aged 27 allegedly stabbed Mbonisi Nyathi aged 48 once on the chest with a sharp object after a misunderstanding at a beer binge.

“The victim died on the spot. The police has since launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled after committing the offence,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

Last Thursday, police in Chegutu arrested Kudakwashe Munemo Chikomo (36) in connection with a murder case in which the body of Fexon Nderema (33) was found lying in a pool of blood at a complex in Chegutu CBD with deep cuts on the head.

Police recovered a blood-stained axe beside the body, and the victim’s cellphone was recovered from the suspect.
