A bursar at Sigonde Secondary School in Bubi district has been arrested for allegedly stealing $4 150 from the school.

A court heard that Nonsikelelo Dube (36) took money that was paid by 44 students as their school fees and used it to start a business.

Dube was arrested in January this year when the headmaster discovered that the money was missing.

She appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya facing 44 counts of theft.

Dube pleaded guilty and Mr Tashaya remanded her out of custody to April 10.

“Your worship, l was trying to do my personal projects. I thought that l would restitute the money. The reason why l committed this offence is that they always delay paying my monthly salary. I am willing to reimburse the money,” she said.

Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo told the court that between January and November 2016, Dube received money from 44 students who were paying their school fees and converted it to her own use.
