BINDURA University of Science Education (Buse) has claimed first place in athletics at the ongoing Zimbabwe University Sports Association (Zusa) cluster 1 games that are on in the city.
For this year’s edition, all athletics events were squeezed into one day. Athletes took part in various events including 100m, 200m, relays, long jump, high jump and short put.
In the end, Buse picked up a total of 15 medals including nine gold, two silver and four bronze medals. University of Zimbabwe had the highest number of total medals with 19 but they were beaten on the gold medals by Buse.
UZ collected seven gold medals, seven silver and five bronze medals
The games that are being hosted by Nust will run till Saturday.
Chess, karate and table tennis will be at Nust facilities while cricket will be at Bulawayo Athletics Club, Busters Sports Club and MacDonald Cricket Club.
Rugby will be at Hartsfield, hockey at Khumalo Hockey Stadium while Harry Allen Golf Club will play host to golf.
After the Zusa Games, all tertiary institutions will stage the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institution Students’ Union (Zitusu) Games where a squad will be selected to represent Zimbabwe in the World Universities Games.
