Businesses express optimism over 2012

Most companies went on their traditional annual shutdown in December which gives workers a chance  to rest while essential equipment is serviced.
Businesspeople have expressed optimism over this year saying they had plans to boost their businesses in different ways.

National Foods Maize Strategic Business Unit managing director Mr Chipo Nheta said theirs was not a total shut down as they had a lot of orders to attend to.
He said as a company they were  coming up with new products on the market.
“Last year was good and we want to consolidate our market share this year and make sure that our business grows.

“We are aiming at improving efficiency as well as increasing on our production output so as to widen our market share,” he said.
He said they had new projects they will be embarking on which he could not reveal for business reasons.
The chief executive officer of the Association for Business in Zimbabwe (ABUZ) Mr Lucky Mlilo said as an organisation they were also aiming at having a great year in 2012.

In a statement, he said it was time their operations expanded to other cities.
“As ABUZ, we are planning on expansion which we aim to accomplish before the end of this year.”
He said their hope was to see more capital available to industry so that capacity utilisation is enhanced.

“More capital is needed for capitalisation for our economy to keep growing and for companies to increase productivity levels.
“We want to work determinedly this year to revive our economy which is still in the process of growing,” he said.

Bulawayo miners are looking forward     to the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development playing a leading role in repossessing idle mining claims held for speculative purposes and mobilising financial support for     them.

In an interview, a committee member of the Bulawayo Mining Association Mr Joseph Chipindo said:
“This year we need to prove that small-scale miners can do well and can contribute to the growth of the economy by working extra hard to promote small-scale mining and increase export returns,” he said.
